This autoroute would be a Gatineau-bypass, plus a link to the Western Ottawa-Carleton Regional Municipality. Thus, ON-416 would be easily linked from the Québec side of the National Capital region and downtown Gatineau-Gatineau would be evitated.
Also, A-50/A-5 movments would be easier.
MTQ stated in 1996 that there was no need for a Outaouais Urban Community (now city of Gatineau) bypass, but that keeping the ROW
for a further boulevard or freeway in a NCC-partnership was to consider.
